SWABI, Aug. 3: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife has formally launched the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 in Swabi and Gadoon, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to expanding forest cover and promoting environmental sustainability.
The campaign was inaugurated at Budh Check Post, Gadoon, Tehsil Topi, by Additional Secretary (Administration) Syed Habib-ul-Hassan Gilani during his visit to the Swabi and Gadoon subdivisions.
The ceremony was attended by Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mardan Suleman Khan, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Swabi Fakhar Alam, Additional Assistant Commissioner Topi Dr. Yameen Sana, along with officials from the Forest Department and local administration.
As part of the campaign, participants planted a variety of indigenous saplings, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation, forest restoration, biodiversity protection, and the vision of a greener and more climate-resilient Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Secretary Syed Habib-ul-Hassan Gilani emphasized the need for close coordination among all relevant institutions to ensure the success of the plantation campaign. He said meaningful results could only be achieved through the active participation of government departments, local communities, youth, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and volunteers.
He urged citizens to plant more trees during the monsoon season and take responsibility for their care, describing public participation as the cornerstone of sustainable environmental protection.
Assistant Commissioner Fakhar Alam also highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing climate change and preserving natural resources for future generations.
DFO Mardan Suleman Khan said a tree is far more than a source of greenery. “Every tree contributes to cleaner air, a healthier environment, improved water conservation, fertile soil, and hope for future generations,” he said.
The provincial government believes the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 will serve as a significant milestone in promoting an environmentally responsible lifestyle, strengthening forest conservation, and enhancing climate resilience across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The campaign forms part of the province’s broader strategy to increase green cover and encourage public participation in efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
