BUNER, Aug. 4: The Buner Watershed Division, in collaboration with Muslim Hands Organization, launched the Monsoon Plantation Campaign 2026, reaffirming a shared commitment to afforestation, environmental conservation, and sustainable watershed management in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The plantation event brought together the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Buner Watershed, representatives of Muslim Hands Organization, the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO) Daggar, the Range Forest Officer (RFO) Chamla Watershed, watershed officials, field staff, and faculty members, all of whom pledged to work collectively to expand the province’s green cover and strengthen climate resilience.
To mark the launch of the campaign, participants ceremonially planted two saplings at the DFO Buner Watershed Office, symbolizing their collective resolve to combat climate change, restore ecological balance, and promote sustainable forest management.
As part of the initiative, the Forest Department handed over 800 saplings to Muslim Hands Organization for plantation at designated sites. The consignment included 600 Phulai (Acacia modesta) and 200 Shisham (Dalbergia sissoo) saplings, which will contribute to increasing forest cover and improving watershed health in the region.
Officials highlighted the importance of collaborative partnerships between government institutions, development organizations, and local communities in addressing environmental challenges. They noted that such joint initiatives play a vital role in conserving natural resources, enhancing biodiversity, reducing the impacts of climate change, and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to continuing afforestation efforts during the monsoon season, emphasizing that community participation and institutional collaboration are essential to building a greener, healthier, and more climate-resilient Pakistan.
