ISLAMABAD, Aug. 3: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) successfully concluded the first batch of the NDMA Internship Programme 2026, marking the completion of an intensive learning experience for 100 young interns committed to strengthening disaster resilience in Pakistan.
The internship programme provided participants with comprehensive exposure to Pakistan’s disaster management system through a series of interactive learning activities, including expert lectures, technical sessions, field visits, simulation exercises, and practical training designed to enhance their understanding of disaster risk reduction and emergency response.
As part of the programme, interns also gained hands-on experience through engagements with partner organizations, including the Pakistan Boy Scouts Association, the Pakistan Girl Guides Association, and other key stakeholders. These activities helped participants develop leadership qualities, teamwork, communication, and emergency response skills essential for effective disaster management.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Executive Director NDMA, Mr. Tanveer Piracha, congratulated the interns on successfully completing the programme and encouraged them to become ambassadors of resilience within their communities by promoting disaster preparedness and awareness.
Certificates were awarded to the interns in recognition of their dedication, active participation, and commitment throughout the programme.
The NDMA reiterated that investing in Pakistan’s youth is central to its vision of building a culture of preparedness and resilience. Through initiatives such as the Internship Programme, the authority aims to empower the next generation of leaders with the knowledge and practical skills needed to contribute to a safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready Pakistan.
