ISLAMABAD, Aug. 3: The Embassy of Ethiopia organized a tree plantation drive under its Green Legacy Initiative at Madina Park, F-8/2, Islamabad, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation, afforestation, and collective climate action.
The event was attended by Mr. Melaw Getachew, Chargé d’Affaires of Ethiopia, along with diplomats from several African countries, who jointly planted saplings as a symbol of friendship, environmental sustainability, and a shared commitment to protecting the planet for future generations.
Addressing the participants, speakers highlighted the importance of international cooperation in tackling climate change and promoting nature-based solutions through tree plantation and ecosystem restoration.
Mr. Zafar Bakhtawari, Patron-in-Chief of the Clean & Green Islamabad Movement, also participated in the campaign and reiterated his commitment to advancing environmental awareness, expanding urban green spaces, and encouraging community participation in afforestation initiatives.
Participants emphasized that tree plantation remains one of the most effective and sustainable tools for mitigating the impacts of climate change, improving air quality, conserving biodiversity, and creating healthier urban environments.
The plantation drive concluded with a renewed pledge by the participants to continue supporting collaborative environmental initiatives and strengthen partnerships aimed at building a cleaner, greener, and more climate-resilient Pakistan.
