LOWER DIR: Rescue 1122 Lower Dir has been equipped with an advanced drone to enhance emergency response and rescue operations during floods, river accidents and other challenging situations across the district.
The initiative has been undertaken under the special focus of Director General Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Fahad on the use of modern technology to strengthen emergency response capabilities.
A practical training exercise on drone operations was conducted at the TWRP Camp Rabat, located along the Panjkora River. Rescue personnel from Lower Dir, Upper Dir and Chitral Water Rescue Teams participated in the exercise under the supervision of Deputy Director Operations and Coordination Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Niaz Ali.
During the exercise, rescue personnel received hands-on training in operating the drone and using its technical capabilities during emergencies. The practical demonstration included aerial surveillance, rapid identification of people stranded in rivers or difficult terrain, guidance for rescue teams and improved situational assessment.
The team also successfully tested the advanced drone’s capability to carry heavy loads, demonstrating its potential for supporting rescue operations in difficult-to-access locations.
District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Lower Dir Sanaullah said the introduction of drone technology represents an important advancement in rescue operations. He said the technology would be particularly useful during floods, river accidents and emergencies in remote and difficult terrain by enabling rescue teams to quickly identify affected people and obtain accurate information from the air.
He added that Rescue 1122 Lower Dir is continuing to enhance its technological capabilities, training and professional preparedness to ensure an effective response to emergencies.
The deployment of the drone is expected to make rescue operations faster, safer and more effective, particularly during flood emergencies and river-related incidents.
The initiative reflects the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s focus on strengthening emergency response through modern technology and improved public safety services.
