QUETTA: The Government of China and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have launched a new phase of post-flood recovery support in Balochistan in partnership with the Government of Balochistan.
The initiative builds on a first phase of China-supported assistance that benefited more than 162,000 people affected by floods in the province.
The new phase, being implemented under UNDP’s flagship Flood Recovery Programme, will expand support to seven districts across Balochistan. The programme will focus on agricultural and livelihood assistance, skills training and targeted support for women.
The initiative aims to help flood-affected communities restore their livelihoods, improve productivity and strengthen their ability to cope with future climate-related shocks.
According to the partners, the two phases of China-supported assistance are expected to benefit more than 270,000 people across Balochistan.
The programme reflects the importance of linking post-disaster recovery with climate resilience by supporting communities not only to rebuild after floods but also to strengthen their livelihoods and preparedness for future climate risks.
