A woman in the United States won $1 million (over 270 million Pakistani rupees) from a lottery ticket she had forgotten about after purchasing it.
This interesting incident occurred in the state of Illinois, where the woman bought a lottery ticket from a supermarket in October 2024.
The woman (whose name has not been revealed) had no intention of purchasing the lottery ticket and had completely forgotten about it after placing it in her purse.
She shared with the Illinois Lottery Press, “I decided to do some shopping at the supermarket while my aunt was leaving, and I bought the lottery ticket on my way out.”
On October 20th, the winning numbers for the lottery draw were announced, and it turned out that her ticket matched the winning numbers. However, at that time, she didn’t realize she had won.
She said, “A few days after the lottery draw, I looked in my purse and found the ticket. I opened the lottery app, scanned my ticket, and was shocked to see $1 million.”
She added, “I scanned the ticket again to make sure, and when it confirmed $1 million, I immediately started crying.”
The woman mentioned that the prize money would give her more opportunities to travel.
She said, “Now I’ll be able to visit my favorite place, Ireland. It’s such a beautiful country, and I can travel there every year from now on.”
