Actress and writer Yasra Rizvi has said that showbiz personalities often refrain from discussing religion because they are mocked with remarks like, “Now actors will teach us about faith?”
Yasra Rizvi recently appeared on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, where she openly discussed various topics.
During the conversation, she emphasized the importance of Islam and stressed that every prominent figure and educated Muslim should step forward to convey religious teachings correctly.
According to her, most parents treat Islam merely as an academic subject, limiting their children’s religious education to Nazra Quran classes and Islamic studies in school.
She pointed out that while past generations may have had a different perspective, she is not teaching her child about Islam the same way she was taught.
Yasra explained that she is imparting Islamic education to her child with deep reflection, translation, and interpretation—unlike how parents used to do in her time.
She believes that all parents should teach their children about Islam and life’s purpose, allowing them the freedom to choose their own path.
When asked about society’s attitude, Yasra stated that there is often an effort to create fear and alienation regarding Islam, making children hesitant towards religion.
She stressed the need for proper religious education and urged showbiz personalities to take part in spreading accurate Islamic knowledge. Otherwise, she warned, misconceptions would continue to grow.
Yasra argued that if Muslims themselves do not promote the true teachings of Islam, then who will? She insisted that if proper education is not provided, those who create doubts about religion will cause more damage.
She further noted that showbiz figures avoid discussing religion mainly because of the criticism and mocking remarks they receive.
According to her, many artists, despite wanting to talk about Islam, hold back due to societal judgment and negative remarks.
