PESHAWAR: A high-level delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO) visited the Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Headquarters to review the province’s emergency response system, operational capacity, and disaster management capabilities.
The delegation was welcomed by Director General Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Fahad, along with Director Administration, Director Operations, Director Planning, District Emergency Officer Peshawar Iftikhar Khan, and other senior officials.
According to a Rescue 1122 statement, the delegation received a detailed briefing on the organization’s emergency response mechanism, operational readiness, training standards, and the range of services provided across the province. Officials informed the visitors that Rescue 1122 provides round-the-clock emergency services, including medical response, road traffic accident rescue, firefighting, building collapse response, flood rescue, water rescue, urban search and rescue, and disaster management.
The WHO delegation also toured various operational units, where they were introduced to modern rescue equipment, ambulances, firefighting vehicles, search and rescue tools, water rescue equipment, emergency medical services, and community safety programmes.
A live emergency response simulation was conducted during the visit, demonstrating incident site management, search and rescue operations, casualty evacuation, first aid, triage, emergency medical management, inter-agency coordination, and the transfer of injured persons to hospitals.
The delegation commended the professionalism, rapid response, and effective teamwork demonstrated by Rescue 1122 personnel.
The visitors also toured the Provincial Monitoring Cell, where they were briefed on the emergency call response system, real-time monitoring, rapid deployment of resources, district-level coordination, and the command and control system.
At the conclusion of the visit, the WHO delegation praised Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for its professional capabilities, advanced emergency response system, high training standards, and commitment to public service. The delegation expressed hope for enhanced cooperation between the two organizations in the areas of emergency medical response, disaster management, and capacity building.
