LAHORE: Former Punjab Governor and Sarwar Foundation founder Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, along with Sarwar Foundation Chairperson Begum Perveen Sarwar, has stressed the urgent need to ensure the uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water, saying access to clean water is essential for public health.
Speaking during a surprise visit to the Sarwar Foundation Hospital in Rajana, the two leaders said even groundwater in many rural and semi-urban areas is no longer safe for drinking without proper filtration.
They urged the government to prioritize the sustainable management of water resources and invest in the construction of new water reservoirs to address Pakistan’s growing water challenges.
“On one hand, the country is facing water scarcity, while on the other, recurring floods continue to inundate villages and towns. Better water management is essential to tackle both challenges,” Chaudhry Sarwar said.
He added that the Sarwar Foundation is continuing its nationwide initiative to install modern water filtration plants to provide safe drinking water to communities across Pakistan.
During their visit, Chaudhry Sarwar and Begum Perveen Sarwar met patients, including children receiving treatment at the hospital, and inquired about the quality of healthcare services while wishing them a speedy recovery.
Chaudhry Sarwar said seeing patients recover and return home healthy gives him immense satisfaction and motivates the foundation to continue serving humanity.
He noted that the Sarwar Foundation’s welfare projects are benefiting thousands of underprivileged families, while its vocational training centres have helped thousands of women acquire skills, become financially independent, and improve their livelihoods.
