RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has established a Climate Innovation Lab at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) to provide young people with a platform to develop practical ideas for climate action and community resilience.
The lab was established by the PRCS Youth & Volunteer Department under its Urban Resilience YOUR CAP Project. An introductory session brought together 45 students and focused on climate action, innovation and meaningful youth participation in addressing environmental challenges.
Students to Engage in Climate Resilience Activities
Through the new lab, students will have opportunities to participate in upcoming PRCS programmes and initiatives related to climate resilience, youth engagement and community-based action.
The initiative is designed to go beyond climate awareness by encouraging students to develop practical and innovative approaches that could help communities prepare for and respond to climate-related risks.
Linking Education With Climate Action
The initiative provides students with an opportunity to connect academic learning with practical climate action while strengthening their involvement in community resilience activities.
PRCS said the Climate Innovation Lab will serve as a platform for youth engagement and encourage students to contribute ideas aimed at building more resilient and sustainable communities.
With communities facing increasing challenges from extreme weather and urban vulnerabilities, initiatives that involve young people in practical resilience efforts can help strengthen local knowledge, preparedness and community-based responses.
