A new study has revealed that bowel cancer cases are rapidly increasing among younger people in England. The research found that this disease is spreading more quickly in England compared to other countries.
According to researchers, the early signs of bowel cancer are rising globally among people aged 25 to 49, but England is the country where this increase is the highest, averaging 3.6% per year.
Studies are being conducted to understand why young people are getting bowel cancer, but experts believe that poor diet, excessive consumption of ultra-processed foods, obesity, and lack of exercise are playing significant roles.
Michelle Mitchell, Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK, stated that the study shows that the rise in early symptoms of bowel cancer (affecting people aged 25 to 49) is a global issue.
It is concerning that this study has highlighted for the first time that England has the fastest-growing rate compared to other countries.
She explained that cancer diagnosis at any age is impactful for patients and their families, and it is crucial to understand the causes behind this trend in young people.
