ISLAMABAD: A delegation from the UK International Search and Rescue (UK ISAR) Team visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation in emergency response, Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), and volunteer mobilisation.
During the visit, both sides discussed ways to enhance collaboration in disaster risk management, improve the capacity of first responders, strengthen emergency preparedness, and adopt international best practices in search and rescue operations.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to building resilience through innovation, advanced early warning systems, and coordinated efforts to better protect vulnerable communities across Pakistan.
The delegation also received a detailed briefing at the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC), where NDMA officials showcased the authority’s multi-hazard monitoring and early warning systems, integrated risk assessment mechanisms, and technology-driven tools used for disaster preparedness and response.
The UK team visited NDMA’s disaster-resilient infrastructure models, Humanitarian Logistics Yard, and Mobile National Emergencies Operation Centre (Mobile NEOC), gaining first-hand insight into Pakistan’s growing disaster management and emergency response capabilities.
The visit concluded with both sides agreeing to deepen technical cooperation, promote knowledge sharing, strengthen institutional partnerships, and explore future collaboration to further improve Pakistan’s disaster preparedness and emergency response systems.
