GUJRAT: Five landless farmers were awarded allotment letters for government agricultural land under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar programme at a ceremony held in Gujrat on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Waqas Safdar Sikandari, and Members of the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmad Ranian and Syed Madad Ali Shah attended the event. The allotment letters were distributed among the beneficiaries by the two MPAs.
According to officials, the beneficiaries were selected through a merit-based process followed by verification and security clearance. Each farmer received three to five acres of government agricultural land on a 10-year lease in the tehsils of Jalalpur Jattan, Kharian and Sarai Alamgir at an annual rent of Rs100 per acre.
Under the programme, each beneficiary will also receive Rs50,000 per acre in financial assistance to help prepare the land for cultivation.
The Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar initiative aims to support landless farmers by providing access to cultivable land and financial assistance, helping them improve their livelihoods through agriculture.
