TOBA TEK SINGH: In line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to strengthen urban infrastructure, Deputy Commissioner Maham Asif Malik reviewed the progress of major development projects being executed under the Punjab Development Programme.
During a visit to Bilal Park, the deputy commissioner inspected the construction of an underground rainwater storage tank and assessed the pace and quality of work. Officials informed her that the facility will have the capacity to store 503,200 gallons of rainwater, helping improve rainwater harvesting and urban water management while reducing the risk of water wastage during heavy rainfall.
The deputy commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure that construction work is completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Later, Maham Asif Malik visited the site of the proposed Food Street at the old vegetable market. The Chief Officer of the District Council briefed her on the project’s design, scope, and implementation plan, highlighting its potential to provide improved recreational facilities and create a vibrant public space for residents.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that the timely completion of development projects and the provision of quality public amenities remain the district administration’s top priorities. She emphasized that no compromise would be made on construction quality, directing all executing agencies to adhere strictly to approved standards and ensure the successful completion of the projects.
