ISLAMABAD: The FDO, with support from GIZ under the FCRP Project, facilitated an exposure visit to nature-based solutions implemented under the CF-WRAP Project in Islamabad for selected students and faculty members from Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture (MNSU) and Emerson University.
As part of their learning on the Sponge City Model, the participants visited the Earthen Wetland at Rawal Town and a wetland intervention in G-6/2, Islamabad.
The visits provided the students and faculty members with practical insights into nature-based approaches for wastewater treatment, water management and improving urban water resilience.
The delegation also visited Quaid-i-Azam University, where participants explored groundwater recharge and rooftop rainwater harvesting systems.
The exposure visit helped connect classroom learning with practical applications and demonstrated how nature-based solutions can support sustainable water management and strengthen the resilience of cities to climate-related challenges.
