Rain with thunder forecast for first day of Eidul Fitr

As the country prepares to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr in the coming days, the Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory predicting thundershowers in several highland areas, including Islamabad, on the first day of the religious festival.

Dr Babar of the Meteorological Department said that fresh rain is likely across the country from Anna Day onwards.

According to the latest reports, rain and thundershowers are expected in higher regions including Islamabad on Wednesday. However, Thursday is expected to be dry and slightly warmer, bringing temporary relief before the onset of heavy rain.

Dr. Babar warned that a fresh wave of heavy rain is expected to enter the country from Friday afternoon to Monday. Prolonged rain can lead to cloud clearing in many areas, but in some areas, there is a risk of flash floods and landslides.

The Meteorological Department advisory has warned of the risk of heavy rain and thunder during April 13-15, especially in areas like Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Mansehra, and near the Kabul River. Additionally, there is a risk of landslides in Galiat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan due to expected heavy rains.

In response to these predictions, all agencies have been ordered to be on alert to reduce potential risks and ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas. Authorities are urged to take precautions and measures to deal with emergencies arising from severe weather conditions.
