Rain Disrupts Road Conditions on GT Road, M-2 and Murree Expressway as Motorway Police Urge Caution

ISLAMABAD: Rain continued at several locations along major highways on Thursday, prompting the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) to advise motorists to drive cautiously and remain alert to changing road conditions.

According to the Motorway Police, rainfall was reported at various points on the Peshawar-Rawalpindi GT Road, while Jhelum, Gujrat and Muridke also received rain.

Intermittent rainfall was also reported on different sections of the M-2 Motorway, while rain continued on the Murree Expressway, where motorists were advised to exercise extra caution due to potentially slippery road conditions.

The Motorway Police urged drivers to reduce speed, maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead and avoid sudden braking or unnecessary overtaking during rainfall.

The police also warned that weather conditions in mountainous areas could increase the risk of landslides and falling rocks, potentially affecting road traffic and causing temporary closures.

Motorists travelling towards northern and mountainous areas were advised to avoid unnecessary journeys during periods of heavy rain and check the latest road and weather conditions before departure.

The NHMP urged road users to follow traffic safety instructions and cooperate with field personnel deployed along affected routes.

For the latest information about road conditions and traffic situations, motorists can contact the Motorway Police Helpline 130 or follow the NHMP’s official social media channels.
