LAHORE: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s artificial intelligence (AI) system has detected 1,500 environmental violations in the past 72 hours, with legal action reportedly taken against 1,000 violators under the provincial government’s “Smog-Free Punjab” vision.
The AI-based monitoring system is being used to identify environmental violations and support rapid action against activities that contribute to air pollution and smog.
According to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, the system detected the violations during the last three days, while relevant authorities initiated legal proceedings in 1,000 cases.

The initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen environmental monitoring and enforcement ahead of the smog season. The use of AI and digital surveillance can help authorities identify violations more quickly and improve the response to activities that may contribute to air pollution.
The authority has also urged citizens to play an active role in protecting the environment. Residents can report activities that cause smog or pollution by calling 15 or by using the “Connect to PSCA” feature in the Safe City app to submit video evidence.
Public reporting can complement official monitoring and help authorities identify pollution-related violations that may otherwise go unnoticed.
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has called on citizens to contribute to efforts for cleaner air and a healthier environment by reporting activities that cause pollution and smog.
