Lahore, August 1: The Punjab government has stepped up its enforcement campaign against single-use plastics, with a shop sealed in Lahore’s Liberty Market for violating the provincial ban during an inspection led by Parliamentary Secretary for Environment Kanwal Liaqat.
The visit was conducted to assess the implementation of the government’s ban on single-use plastics and review compliance with environmental regulations in one of the city’s busiest commercial areas.
During the inspection, officials sealed a shop after it was found violating the ban. The action forms part of the Punjab government’s ongoing campaign to reduce plastic pollution and strengthen enforcement of environmental laws.
Speaking on the occasion, Kanwal Liaqat said the provincial government remains committed to the strict implementation of the ban to curb environmental pollution and encourage the adoption of sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics.
She warned that violations of environmental regulations would not be tolerated and said legal action would continue against businesses that fail to comply with the ban.
The inspection is part of Punjab’s broader environmental strategy aimed at creating a cleaner, greener, and plastic-free province through effective enforcement, public awareness, and responsible environmental practices
