RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Forest Department foiled an attempt to transport illegally obtained timber during an enforcement operation in the Rawalpindi North Forest Division.
According to the department, Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Kahuta, Muhammad Usman, along with his field staff, intercepted a Toyota pickup carrying illegally sourced fuelwood on the Kahuta–Panjar Road during a routine operation on July 29.
The vehicle and the illegally transported wood were taken into official custody and shifted to the office of the Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) in Kahuta for legal proceedings.
Forest officials said further investigations are underway to identify those involved and determine the source of the illegally harvested timber.
The Forest Department reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against timber smuggling and illegal logging, emphasizing that operations against forest crimes will continue to protect the province’s valuable forest resources.
