ISLAMABAD: A high-level delegation from Poland, led by Paweł Dąbrowski, Plenipotentiary of the Polish Minister of the Interior for International Cooperation, visited the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Headquarters in Islamabad to strengthen bilateral cooperation in disaster risk reduction and emergency response.
During the visit, Team NDMA gave a comprehensive briefing on the capabilities of the NEOC and Pakistan’s transition towards proactive disaster risk management aimed at reducing the impact of recurring natural disasters.
Chairman NDMA, Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik, highlighted the authority’s initiatives for regional integration and a global disaster risk reduction (DRR) framework. He also briefed the delegation on the adoption of next-generation technologies to enhance Disaster Early Warning (DEW) systems and improve coordinated response mechanisms among emergency responders and resource providers.
The Polish delegation was informed about NDMA’s coordination with national leadership, provincial governments, security institutions, humanitarian organizations, and international academic partners to strengthen disaster preparedness and response.
Officials also outlined Pakistan’s multi-tiered disaster management framework, emphasizing localized risk communication, anticipatory action planning, resource mobilization, and international coordination to ensure timely foreign assistance during emergencies.
During the session, NDMA showcased its “Disaster Lens 2026” platform for Pakistan and the international community and demonstrated a series of Comprehensive International Simulation Exercises (CISE) designed to enhance disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
The visiting delegation praised NDMA’s advanced disaster management systems and expressed keen interest in expanding collaboration between Pakistan and Poland in disaster management and emergency response.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships and enhancing cooperation to address the growing challenges posed by climate change and increasingly complex disasters.
