Murree: A District Orientation Session under the Pakistan Women Leaders (PWL) Project was organized in Murree by Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO), in collaboration with TDEA, PWL is an initiative of UN Women, funded by European Union (EU). The session was attended by representatives of various political parties, civil society organizations, the Bar Association, media, and other relevant institutions.
The objective of the session was to create awareness among participants about the Pakistan Women Leaders Project and introduce them to opportunities available for women to enhance their participation in political, social, and decision-making processes.
On the occasion, SSDO welcomed the participants and briefly introduced the organization’s work and contributions in the social and development sectors. It was highlighted that women play a vital role in the development of society and that providing them with opportunities for leadership and decision-making is an important need of the time.
During the orientation, participants were briefed in detail about the objectives, activities, and opportunities offered under the project. The Pakistan Women Leaders Project aims to strengthen women’s leadership skills, enhance their confidence, and prepare them to play an effective role in political and social processes.
Participants were also provided practical guidance on the online application process. The different steps for applying through the Pakistan Women Leaders online portal were explained, including how applicants can enter the required information, complete the application form, and submit their applications successfully.
The participants were informed that the PWL is a 34-month programme being implemented across 57 districts of Pakistan. The programme will provide women with opportunities through training sessions, boot camps, mentorship, networking, and other leadership development activities.
During the session, participants raised questions regarding women’s political and social participation, eligibility criteria, nomination and selection procedures, and other aspects of the programme. Their questions were addressed, and necessary guidance was provided.
The participants appreciated the Pakistan Women Leaders Project as an important initiative for creating leadership opportunities for women and enabling them to play a more meaningful role in society. They emphasized that political parties, civil society organizations, media, Bar Associations, and other institutions should disseminate information about the programme among eligible and talented women in their respective networks so that maximum women can benefit from this valuable opportunity.
