EPA KP Reviews Regional Performance Ahead of Smog Season

PESHAWAR, October 6, 2026: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reviewed the performance of its regional offices and called for stronger field operations ahead of the upcoming smog season.

A progress review meeting was held at the office of the Director General, EPA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to assess the work and progress of all regional offices across the province.

The meeting was chaired by EPA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Director General Tariq Ali Khan. In his opening remarks, he said all necessary powers had already been delegated to the heads of the regional offices.

He stressed that regional offices must now use these powers effectively, improve field operations and ensure proper implementation of environmental laws to protect public health and improve the quality of life of citizens.

During the meeting, heads of the regional formations presented updates on their performance and ongoing activities through a video conference. The progress of each region was reviewed, with the overall performance described as satisfactory.

In his concluding remarks, the Director General directed regional offices to further strengthen their efforts as the smog season approaches.

He called for proactive environmental monitoring, timely action against violations and stronger enforcement at the field level.

The EPA chief stressed that early action is important to control pollution and protect people from the harmful effects of poor air quality.

With smog and air pollution posing serious risks to public health and the environment, stronger monitoring and enforcement at the regional level can help reduce pollution sources and support cleaner air across the province.
