Pakistan to host major China healthcare investment conference on July 17-18

ISLAMABAD, July 16: Pakistan will host the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical & Healthcare B2B Investment Conference 2026 on July 17-18 at the Marriott Hotel, Islamabad, bringing together more than 450 Pakistani and Chinese companies to explore joint ventures, technology transfer, and investment opportunities in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

Speaking at a pre-conference media briefing, Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Syed Mustafa Kamal said the conference is a business facilitation initiative jointly organised by the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSR&C), the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and the Board of Investment (BOI), with support from the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing.

The minister said the event was the result of two months of diplomatic and technical preparations during which officials from the ministry, DRAP and the Pakistani embassy in Beijing analysed market opportunities and identified areas for industrial collaboration between the two countries.

He said the conference will bring together over 300 Pakistani companies and 150 leading Chinese pharmaceutical and healthcare firms, shifting bilateral engagement beyond conventional trade promotion towards commercially viable joint ventures, contract manufacturing arrangements and technology transfer.

According to the organisers, discussions will focus on seven priority sectors, including active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), biotechnology products and vaccines, medical devices and advanced medical technology, generic pharmaceutical formulations, clinical trials and research, and traditional, herbal and nutraceutical medicines.

The inaugural session will feature addresses by Federal Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal, Federal Minister for Board of Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, and the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to address participants and formally inaugurate the conference.

The opening day will also include the signing of agreements and partnerships aimed at promoting indigenous pharmaceutical manufacturing, followed by structured business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking sessions between Pakistani and Chinese companies.

To facilitate investment discussions, representatives of DRAP, BOI and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) will establish on-site facilitation desks to provide real-time guidance on regulatory requirements, licensing procedures, investment incentives and joint venture frameworks.

On the second day, DRAP officials will brief participants on Pakistan’s regulatory environment, including digitised licensing and registration systems and integration with the Pakistan Single Window (PSW), before additional B2B sessions focused on finalising commercial agreements and signing memoranda of understanding (MoUs).

The conference venue will also provide dedicated bilateral meeting rooms, MoU facilitation teams and professional interpretation services to support negotiations between Pakistani and Chinese business leaders.
