BAHAWALPUR: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) organised a regional seminar titled “The Sutlej in a Changing Climate: Water Basin Management and Food Security” at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB).
The seminar brought together the university’s Vice Chancellor and relevant stakeholders to discuss the impact of climate change on the Sutlej River Basin and the need for sustainable water resource management.
Participants discussed disaster risk reduction, water and food security, and the challenges facing the basin amid changing climate conditions.
The event provided a platform for sharing knowledge, strengthening coordination among stakeholders and exploring practical approaches to improve climate resilience in the Sutlej Basin.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of sustainable water management in supporting agricultural production, protecting livelihoods and strengthening food security in the region.
