More than 1,000 madrasas converted into schools in India

New Delhi: India’s Modi government has converted more than 1,000 madrassas into schools in a show of anti-Muslim hostility.

According to foreign media, 1,281 madrasas have been converted into “model English schools” in the Indian state of Assam. The extremist BJP government says that religious education cannot be given with government money.

An order issued by the office of the Director of Elementary Education, Assam, has banned all government and government-aided madrasas and directed the immediate conversion of middle school madrasas into normal schools.
