Leonardo DiCaprio launched his environmental foundation in 1998 at the age of 24, turning part of his growing public profile toward environmental protection and conservation.
Over the years, the foundation supported more than 200 projects across 50 countries, with more than $80 million in grants reported for initiatives involving wildlife, forests, oceans, climate action and Indigenous communities.
DiCaprio has also used documentaries and public advocacy to raise awareness about environmental issues, including through The 11th Hour and Before the Flood. His environmental work has continued alongside his Hollywood career.
