KHUSHAB: Deputy Commissioner Khushab Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar has imposed Section 144 across the district, banning bathing in canals, rivers, streams, ponds and all other natural and artificial water bodies during the ongoing monsoon season to protect lives and prevent drowning incidents.
According to an official notification, the ban also prohibits encouraging people to swim or bathe in these water bodies and holding public gatherings near such locations. The measure has been taken to reduce the risk of drowning and other rain-related accidents.
The deputy commissioner urged parents to keep children away from canals, streams and other water bodies during the rainy season. He also advised citizens to avoid touching exposed electrical wires, electric poles and other power installations during rain.
He directed WAPDA/FESCO authorities to immediately repair and cover damaged or exposed power lines across all four tehsils of the district and remove transformer trolleys placed along roads to ensure public safety.
Residents were also advised to avoid staying in old, damaged or unsafe mud houses that could collapse during heavy rainfall.
The deputy commissioner instructed WASA, Rescue 1122, municipal committees, the Highway Department, Public Health Engineering, WAPDA/FESCO and other relevant departments to keep all machinery operational and remain on high alert throughout the monsoon season. He directed officials to ensure the timely drainage of rainwater from roads, markets, bus terminals, hospitals, residential areas and villages, while responding quickly to sewerage and other emergency situations.
He warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone violating Section 144. The deputy commissioner also directed all departments to regularly share updates on government measures and field activities through his official social media platforms as well as print and electronic media to keep the public informed.
