KURRAM: Kohat Commissioner Mutasim Billah Shah visited remote border areas of Kurram district under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Good Governance Programme to review public services and development projects.
Accompanied by officials from relevant departments, the commissioner inspected Teri Mangal Hospital, Ali Mangola, Gaidu Civil Dispensary, Borki Hospital, an agricultural farm, Kharlachi Road, and Kot Ragha Lake.
During the visit, he reviewed the availability of medicines, medical staff, water, electricity, and medical equipment at health facilities. Expressing satisfaction over the stock of medicines, he directed the concerned departments to improve the water supply system in hospitals within three days.
The commissioner also instructed officials to ensure the timely completion of under-construction roads and bridges in the district.
Taking notice of public complaints about the absence of staff at the Teri Mangal Veterinary Hospital, he directed the Deputy Commissioner of Kurram to conduct an inquiry. He also instructed agriculture department officials to regularly visit farmers in their fields and address their concerns.
During his visit to the Pak-Afghan border, the commissioner met Pakistan Army personnel and paid tribute to their courage, dedication, and patriotism in safeguarding the country’s frontiers under difficult conditions.
He also met residents of border villages to hear their problems and announced the establishment of a community school for girls in Gaidu village. The initiative is expected to provide educational opportunities to many children, especially girls, in the remote area.
Local residents appreciated the provincial government’s Good Governance Programme and welcomed the commissioner’s efforts to improve public services in the border region.
