ISLAMABAD: Rain continued across various parts of the federal capital, prompting the district administration to intensify monitoring, drainage operations and public safety measures in vulnerable areas.
On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Assistant Commissioners remained present in the field to monitor the situation and oversee arrangements during the ongoing rainfall.
Additional sanitation staff were deployed in low-lying areas, including Faizabad, Lehtrar Road and Park Road, to deal with rainwater accumulation and ensure timely drainage.
The administration also continued special monitoring of drains and nullahs, including those in E-11 and other vulnerable areas, amid concerns over rising water levels and possible urban flooding.
Additional traffic personnel were deployed at major commercial centres, including G-9 Markaz, to manage traffic and facilitate citizens during the rainfall.
The district administration said complaints related to drainage were being addressed immediately, with several cases already cleared by field teams.
As a precautionary measure, announcements were also being made through mosques, advising residents to stay away from drains and nullahs during the rain.
The district administration urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel while the rainfall continues and strongly warned people against approaching drains, nullahs and other waterlogged areas.
“Citizens should not go near nullahs under any circumstances during rainfall,” the administration said, stressing that sudden increases in water flow could pose serious risks.
Sanitation and drainage teams are continuing field operations to clear accumulated water and respond to complaints, while Assistant Commissioners and other officials remain engaged in monitoring the situation across the capital.
