SHORKOT, October 1: An anti-smog tree plantation drive was launched at TEVTA College Shorkot as part of efforts to expand green cover and support measures against air pollution in the area.
The plantation activity was launched by Assistant Commissioner Shorkot Zafar Ahmed on the directions of the Punjab government. He planted different varieties of saplings at the college as part of the campaign.
TEVTA College Shorkot Principal Saeqa Ejaz, SDO Forest Shorkot Rana Zafar, teachers and staff members, and officials of the Forest Department also participated in the plantation activity.

Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Commissioner Zafar Ahmed said plantation was an important step in addressing smog and environmental pollution. He said increasing green cover in educational institutions could contribute to a healthier environment while also encouraging environmentally responsible attitudes among young people.
The plantation drive aims to encourage students, teachers and the wider community to take part in tree planting and environmental protection activities.
Officials urged citizens to plant and care for trees as part of collective efforts to promote cleaner air and a greener and healthier Shorkot.
The campaign also highlights the role of educational institutions in creating awareness about air pollution, plantation and environmental responsibility among the younger generation.
