A Canadian-based Indian entrepreneur, Dev Mitra, recently opened up about his struggles as an international student in a podcast. Dev Mitra, the founder and managing partner of a business management consultancy in Canada, shared his experiences of living in Canada for the past six years.
He revealed that he had left a corporate job in India, earning an annual salary of 1.4 million rupees, to pursue education abroad and had to take a job as a waiter to support himself in a foreign land.
He further stated that the unfortunate reality for international students is the constant struggle to balance work and studies while missing their families back home.
In the podcast, Dev Mitra shared that during his time as a student in Canada, struggles, sacrifices, and low-paying jobs were part of his everyday life. He said no one warns you about the loneliness and exhaustion of balancing work and studies while missing your family at home.
Dev Mitra also highlighted the challenges faced by Indian students in Canada, including a sense of insecurity and racial discrimination in the country.
