Illegal Timber Seized on Hazara Motorway as Forest Department Intensifies Crackdown

HAZARA: The Forest Department has seized a vehicle carrying illegally transported Kail timber during an early-morning enforcement operation on the Hazara Expressway, officials said on Thursday.

The operation was conducted at around 5:15am on August 20, 2026, by the DFO Patrol Squad of the Upper Hazara Forest Circle under the supervision of DFO Zohaib Hassan.

Forest officials intercepted a Toyota vehicle on the Hazara Expressway and conducted a search. The inspection reportedly revealed illegally transported Kail timber inside the vehicle.

The forest staff immediately took the vehicle and timber into custody and initiated further legal proceedings under the relevant forest laws.

Officials said the action was part of ongoing efforts to protect forest resources and prevent the illegal cutting, transportation and smuggling of timber.

The Forest Department reiterated that enforcement operations against illegal logging and timber trafficking would continue, with increased field monitoring aimed at protecting the region’s forests and ensuring compliance with forest regulations.

The department also urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and report suspicious activities involving the illegal transportation of forest produce.
