RAWALPINDI: Concerns over food hygiene and customer service have emerged at the Saddar branch of Cheezious in Rawalpindi after a female customer reportedly found a hair in her pizza and alleged that staff behaved inappropriately when she complained.

According to the information, the customer had ordered a pizza at the restaurant when she discovered a hair in the food. She raised the issue with the staff, expressing concern that a well-known fast-food brand should maintain proper cleanliness and food safety standards. However, she reportedly faced an unpleasant response from staff instead of receiving an immediate and satisfactory resolution.

The incident reportedly took place in the presence of floor manager Hamza, who was on duty at the time.

The customer’s concerns were further heightened when a fly was reportedly seen alongside a pizza being served at another table. The two incidents raised questions about food handling, cleanliness and the effectiveness of hygiene checks at the outlet.

Finding a foreign object in prepared food can understandably undermine customer confidence. Similarly, the presence of insects around food being served can raise concerns about sanitation and possible contamination. However, the specific source of the reported incidents and the restaurant’s overall kitchen hygiene conditions would require an appropriate inspection to establish.

Following the complaint, the restaurant reportedly apologised to the female customer, and the matter was subsequently settled. Manager Hamza assured her that greater attention would be paid to hygiene conditions in the future.

Customers have called on the Cheezious administration to take notice of the incident and ensure that appropriate food safety and cleanliness procedures are consistently followed at the Saddar branch. They have also urged the relevant food safety authorities to examine the matter in accordance with applicable standards.

Food hygiene is particularly important in restaurants serving families, including children, women and older people. Proper food preparation, clean kitchen surfaces, safe storage, pest control and effective staff training are essential measures for reducing contamination risks and protecting public health.

The incident also highlights the importance of how restaurants respond to customer complaints. Customers who report possible food safety problems should be treated respectfully, and their concerns should be addressed promptly through established complaint-handling procedures.

As a recognised fast-food brand, Cheezious faces public expectations to maintain consistent hygiene standards across its outlets. A formal review of the reported incident, together with appropriate corrective measures where necessary, could help address customer concerns and reinforce confidence in the restaurant’s food safety practices.
