ISLAMABAD: The Youth for Humanity Club organised a Smog Awareness Event on October 13, 2026, to educate students about the causes of seasonal air pollution, its potential health and environmental impacts, and practical measures to reduce exposure to smog.
Dr. Sadia Malik, Lecturer in the Department of Botany, served as the resource person and highlighted the importance of understanding smog-related risks and adopting preventive practices to protect public health and the environment.

The session focused on the causes of seasonal air pollution and its effects on human health and the natural environment. Participants were also informed about practical steps they could take to minimise exposure during periods of poor air quality.
Key safety measures discussed during the event included wearing face masks and protective eyewear while commuting, maintaining vehicles to help reduce harmful emissions, limiting unnecessary outdoor activities during peak smog hours, and avoiding the burning of waste.
The initiative engaged students in promoting environmental responsibility and encouraged the university community to adopt healthier habits and contribute to efforts to reduce air pollution.
By raising awareness of smog prevention and personal protection, the event underscored the importance of collective action in creating a cleaner environment and safeguarding community health.
