ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police has introduced online facilities for learner’s permits, driving licence renewals and duplicate licences, allowing citizens to apply from their homes without visiting traffic police offices or service centres.
The initiative has been introduced on the directives of Islamabad Inspector General of Police Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry. Chief Traffic Officer Kainat Azhar Khan announced the new facilities, saying citizens can access the services through the Islamabad Traffic Police web portal.
According to the announcement, the online system is intended to make the application process more convenient and reduce the need for citizens to visit government offices for routine driving licence services.
The announcement states that these services will no longer be available in person at the Traffic Headquarters in Faizabad and other police service centres from Monday, October 19, 2026. Applicants will be required to use the online system for learner’s permits, licence renewals and duplicate licences.
Renewed and duplicate driving licences will be delivered to applicants through TCS, according to the traffic police announcement.
Islamabad Traffic Police has advised citizens to enter their complete names, correct residential addresses and active mobile numbers when submitting online applications.
Officials have cautioned that incorrect or incomplete addresses may delay the delivery of driving licences. Applicants should therefore carefully review their information before submitting their requests.
The move reflects the wider shift towards digital public services, with online applications offering a more accessible way to complete routine administrative procedures. If implemented effectively, such services can save citizens time, reduce unnecessary travel and improve service delivery.
Citizens seeking learner’s permits, licence renewals or duplicate licences are advised to use the official Islamabad Traffic Police web portal and provide accurate information to avoid processing or delivery delays.
