LAHORE: In a revolutionary step towards sustainable and eco-friendly transport, Lahore is gearing up to convert the Orange Line train to solar power. This was announced by Interim Provincial Transport Minister Ibrahim Hasan Murad.
The Punjab Transport Minister also revealed that negotiations with NESPAK based on the recommendations of the Power Ministry are in the final stages.
After the completion of the study, which is expected within three months of the signing of the contract with NESPAK, the Orange Line train solarization project will be launched, Murad said.
Key aspects of the initiative include the installation of solar panels at key locations such as warehouses, stables and stations along the Orange Line. The Superintendent Provincial has confirmed that solar substations are to be built at Stubbing Yard and Orange Train Depot, marking significant progress in the rollout of renewable energy solutions for public transport.
