Illegal Kail Timber Seized on Hazara Expressway During Joint Forest Enforcement Operation

MANSEHRA: A joint enforcement operation by the Patrol Squad Upper Hazara Forest Circle and Siran Forest Division led to the seizure of a Toyota High Roof vehicle allegedly transporting illegally harvested Blue Pine (Kail) timber on the Hazara Expressway.

The operation was conducted under the leadership and direct supervision of Zohaib Hassan, Divisional Forest Officer, Patrol Squad Upper Hazara Forest Circle.

During the operation, forest officials intercepted the vehicle and recovered the suspected illegal timber being transported without the required legal authorisation.

The vehicle and timber were taken into official custody and shifted to the Resin Shed, Shinkiari, where the recovered timber will undergo physical measurement and verification as part of the investigation.

Forest officials said necessary legal proceedings were being initiated against those involved under the applicable provisions of the forest laws.

The enforcement action reflects the Forest Department’s continued efforts to prevent illegal timber transportation and protect the province’s forest resources.

Authorities have reiterated that operations against illegal logging and timber smuggling will continue, with field teams maintaining surveillance of routes considered vulnerable to the movement of illegally harvested forest produce.
