ISLAMABAD: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Sohail Ashraf conducted a detailed inspection of various parts of the federal capital following heavy rainfall, reviewing drainage arrangements and emergency response measures.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon accompanied the CDA chairman during the field visit. The inspection covered roads, low-lying areas, underpasses, interchanges and major thoroughfares, including Sector E-11, where the situation following the rainfall was reviewed on the spot.
The chairman received briefings from relevant officers and field teams on measures being taken to ensure the prompt drainage of rainwater and maintain traffic flow across the city.
Special drainage teams have been mobilized in E-11 and other affected areas. Joint teams from CDA, Emergency and Disaster Management, Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) and the district administration are conducting a coordinated dewatering operation.
Dewatering machinery and field teams have been deployed at low-lying locations, underpasses and other vulnerable points. Authorities are also removing debris, garbage and other obstructions from drains, waterways and water channels to facilitate the smooth flow of rainwater.
The CDA chairman directed officials to remain present in the field and closely monitor the situation during and after rainfall. He stressed that no negligence or delay in drainage operations would be tolerated and instructed all relevant departments to work in close coordination.
Authorities said available resources are being utilized to ensure timely water drainage, maintain traffic movement and provide relief to citizens. Complaints received from residents are also being addressed on a priority basis.
Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and stay away from low-lying areas, underpasses and waterlogged locations. The administration also urged residents to follow official safety instructions and avoid leaving their homes unnecessarily during severe weather.

The CDA and district administration said their teams remain on alert and will continue monitoring vulnerable locations and carrying out drainage, cleaning and restoration operations until conditions normalize.
