ISLAMABAD: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has coordinated an 86-ton relief consignment for flood-affected communities in Nepal as part of Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance following the devastating floods.
The relief supplies are being transported by a commercial chartered aircraft and include tents, blankets, ready-to-eat meals (MREs), dry rations, camp supplies, hygiene kits and medicines.
The operation was coordinated by the NDMA in solidarity with the government and people of Nepal, in accordance with the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The consignment is intended to address Nepal’s immediate humanitarian needs, particularly emergency shelter, food, safe drinking water, medicines and other essential supplies required to support affected communities and restore basic services and access to disaster-hit areas.
According to arrangements coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal will receive the relief consignment before handing it over to the relevant Nepalese authorities, including the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The relief flight was scheduled to depart on August 31, carrying Pakistan’s emergency assistance to communities affected by the floods.
The initiative reflects Pakistan’s continued humanitarian cooperation with Nepal during a major natural disaster and underscores the importance of regional solidarity and coordinated disaster response.
