Camera Lost in the Sea Found Safe After Eight Months

A camera that fell into the sea off the coast of Victoria, Canada, was found eight months later by a diver. Despite being submerged for such a long time, the footage recorded on the camera was unharmed.

Diver Ken Cayley explained that he and his wife were diving at Ogden Point when they found the GoPro camera 30 feet underwater. Despite water entering the device, the SD card remained intact, and it contained several videos, including one of the camera owner dropping it into the water.

Ken shared that when the camera fell, its lens was facing upwards, and shortly after, a crab appeared in the footage. To track down the camera’s owner, Ken shared some video clips and screenshots on social media. His post went viral, and eventually, the camera was returned to the owner’s mother.

The camera’s owner, Shay Lailor, mentioned that his mother recognized his voice in one of the video clips. Ken and Shay met later, and Ken handed over the camera and SD card to Shay.
