Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s representative to the United Arab Emirates, paid tribute to the key leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in a speech at a meeting of members of the Union of Pakistan and the guests of Emirs at iftar at the embassy. “I visited the mausoleum of Sheikh Zayed with the delegation of the Pakistan Business Council and prayed for Fateh and his soul today. The UAE has become the center of global business and cultural activities, the realization of Sheikh Zayed’s dream of uniting the seven emirates.
The meeting was attended by Pakistani doctors, engineers, teachers, businessmen and local emirs.
The ambassador said that Pakistan was one of the first countries to open a diplomatic mission in the UAE by sending its ambassador six months before its establishment. “We have a long-standing relationship with the UAE. Pakistani banker Ch. Zafar Iqbal first met Sheikh Zayed in January 1967, then moved to Abu Dhabi in 1968 and opened a branch of UBL Bank,” Tirmizi said.
Mr. Tirmizi informed the members of the Union of Pakistan that the Mission was striving to improve its consular services and that the newly constructed consular hall with modern facilities would be operational by August this year. “We thank the members of the Pakistan Union and our Emirati friends, without whose support this would not have been possible.”
Introducing the new Consul General, Mr. Tirmizi thanked Mr. Hussain Muhammad for the efforts of the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai in extending consular services to members of the public. The Ambassador said that there is a need to create more favorable conditions for Pakistanis living in the UAE, as the number of schools and educational institutions has increased, albeit slightly. Promising all possible support, he urged Pakistani and Emirati businessmen to invest in the industry by building schools and universities.
The Ambassador said that such ties are necessary to strengthen the bilateral relations between the UAE and Pakistan, which have been nurtured for more than 50 years. Mr. Tirmizi said, “The relationship between the citizens of the two countries provides an opportunity to further develop businesses to promote business cooperation.”
