Arid University launches cleanliness awareness campaign in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) organized a cleanliness awareness campaign on May 13, with participation from students, faculty members, administrative staff, and university officials led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman.

The cleanliness awareness campaign at Arid University focused on promoting environmental responsibility, campus hygiene, and civic awareness among students and staff. Participants collected waste from different areas of the campus as part of the drive aimed at encouraging a cleaner and healthier educational environment.

Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman said cleanliness plays an important role in public health and reflects the values of a responsible society. He said universities serve not only as centers of education but also as institutions that promote character building and social responsibility.

He encouraged students to adopt cleanliness as part of their daily routine and to take responsibility for maintaining hygienic classrooms, corridors, and public spaces within the campus.

Students and staff participate in campus cleanup

The campaign saw active participation from deans, directors, faculty members, administrative officers, staff, and students from different departments of the university.

Participants visited various sections of the campus and collected litter, including plastic waste, empty cans, and other discarded materials. Organizers said several bags of garbage were collected during the activity.

The vice chancellor also appreciated the involvement of faculty and administrative officials, saying their participation reflected the university’s broader commitment to environmental awareness and social values alongside academic activities.

University vows to continue awareness activities

At the conclusion of the campaign, participants reaffirmed their commitment to continuing future cleanliness drives and environmentally focused awareness programs at the university.

Officials said the initiative was intended to strengthen the sense of responsible citizenship among students and encourage practical participation in community welfare activities.
