TEHSIL SADAR, September 9, 2026: An awareness seminar on anti-smog measures was held at the Zila Council Hall, Tehsil Sadar, to educate farmers and local communities about the environmental and health risks associated with crop residue burning.
The seminar was attended by Numberdars and villagers from across the tehsil, with a particular focus on raising awareness among farmers about the harmful consequences of burning agricultural waste.
Participants were informed that crop residue burning contributes to air pollution and can worsen smog, while also posing risks to public health and the environment.
Farmers were urged to avoid burning crop residues and instead adopt environmentally friendly methods for their disposal and management. The importance of finding sustainable alternatives was highlighted as an effective way to reduce emissions from agricultural activities.
The participants were also sensitized to the importance of collective action in tackling smog and improving local air quality. Speakers stressed that effective implementation of anti-smog measures requires cooperation among farmers, local communities and relevant authorities.
The seminar emphasized strict adherence to anti-smog guidelines to help reduce air pollution, protect public health and contribute to a cleaner environment.
