ABBOTTABAD: Modern fire extinguishing equipment was distributed among forest staff at Northern Forest Region-II Abbottabad on October 5, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen the capacity of forest teams to prevent and control forest fires.
Chief Conservator of Forests Muhammad Saleem Khan, Conservator of Forests Hayat Ali, DFO Haripur Muhammad Aqeel Abbasi and DFO Galiyat Bilal Khan attended the ceremony and distributed the firefighting equipment among the relevant forest staff.
The provision of modern equipment is aimed at improving the preparedness and response capacity of forest personnel in dealing with forest fires and protecting valuable forest resources.
Forest fires can damage trees, wildlife habitats and biodiversity while also affecting local ecosystems and communities. Timely response and properly equipped field teams are therefore important for reducing the risk and spread of fires.
Forest officials said the initiative would help strengthen forest protection measures and improve the operational capacity of staff working in forest areas.
The distribution of firefighting equipment marks an important step towards better preparedness and protection of forests in the region.
