LODHRAN: WaterAid Pakistan organised a field visit for women Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) of Punjab to showcase practical, inclusive and climate-resilient water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) solutions in District Lodhran.
The visit provided the lawmakers with an opportunity to see how WASH facilities and interventions are being implemented on the ground and how improved services can support public health, dignity and safer living conditions.
WaterAid highlighted the role of climate-resilient WASH systems in helping communities cope with growing environmental and water-related challenges.
The visit also focused on Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI). Participants were briefed on the importance of designing WASH facilities that respond to the different needs of women, girls, people with disabilities and other marginalised groups.
Inclusive WASH services can help ensure that people have access to water, sanitation and hygiene facilities with greater dignity, safety and equity.
The engagement also highlighted the importance of cooperation among policymakers, communities and development partners in developing sustainable WASH solutions.
WaterAid said such collaboration can help strengthen climate resilience, improve public health and support healthier and more inclusive communities.
The field visit demonstrated how practical WASH interventions can connect policy discussions with community-level action and help translate commitments on water, sanitation, health and climate resilience into tangible outcomes.
