Rawalpindi: Representatives of Rawalpindi Women University (RWU) participated in a consultative session with NGOs and non-profit organisations aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and developing joint approaches to address environmental challenges.
Mr Kashif Ali and Dr Nazia Asghar from the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), RWU, attended the Phase II Consultative Session with NGOs/NPOs, organised by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Government of Punjab.
The session brought together representatives of the EPA, academia, NGOs and NPOs to explore opportunities for stronger institutional linkages and collaborative initiatives in the environmental sector.
During the meeting, participants discussed mechanisms for promoting a research-oriented culture, facilitating joint research projects, strengthening knowledge exchange and establishing meaningful partnerships among academic institutions, government agencies and civil society organisations.
The proposed collaboration aims to address pressing environmental challenges through joint research and development projects, innovation, capacity building, technical expertise and community engagement.
Participants also emphasised the importance of evidence-based environmental solutions, with academia and research institutions playing a greater role in generating knowledge that can support effective environmental policies and interventions.
The consultative session provided stakeholders with an opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences and identify areas where collaborative efforts could produce practical solutions to environmental challenges.
The participation of RWU’s ORIC team highlighted the university’s interest in expanding partnerships beyond academia and connecting research expertise with government institutions and civil society to support sustainable environmental initiatives.
The stakeholders expressed interest in developing stronger institutional linkages and pursuing future collaborative projects focused on environmental research, innovation, knowledge sharing, technical capacity building and community-based environmental action.
