LAHORE: The Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) marked World Agriculture Day by bringing together its senior management and scientists to recognise the vital contribution of Pakistan’s farming community and reaffirm its commitment to strengthening the agriculture sector through science and innovation.
On the occasion, PAFDA’s senior management highlighted the crucial role of farmers in ensuring food security, sustainable development and economic prosperity. Speakers emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong connection with the soil while supporting farmers and the wider agriculture sector through scientific excellence.
The celebration also featured a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolising PAFDA’s collective appreciation for the dedication, hard work and resilience of the country’s farming community.
Officials reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to advancing agricultural quality, food safety and sustainable growth through internationally aligned testing services, scientific research and innovation.
PAFDA said scientific capacity and modern testing facilities can play an important role in improving agricultural standards, strengthening food security and supporting sustainable development across the sector.
The World Agriculture Day observance provided an opportunity to recognise farmers as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s economy while highlighting the growing importance of science and innovation in building a productive, resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.
