PESHAWAR: On the directives of the provincial government, the district administration of Peshawar has launched a crackdown against brick kilns in Tehsil Matani for illegally burning rubber and tyres, a practice that contributes significantly to air pollution and environmental degradation.
During the operation, several brick kilns found involved in the illegal burning of rubber and tyres were sealed by the administration. The owners of the affected kilns were also arrested for violating environmental regulations.
Officials said the use of rubber and waste tyres as fuel releases hazardous pollutants into the atmosphere, posing serious risks to public health and the environment.
The administration has initiated legal proceedings against the arrested kiln owners in accordance with the law.
The crackdown is part of the provincial government’s efforts to control air pollution, ensure compliance with environmental regulations and protect communities from harmful emissions. Authorities have also warned brick kiln operators against violating environmental laws and said strict action will be taken against those found involved in environmentally harmful practices.
